IPA President’s Message from Nerida Hills

Nerida-Hills-1

I’d like to share my story of how I came to be involved with the Interior Plantscape Association (IPA).  I started Nerida’s Interior Plantscaping in Gippsland, Victoria, back in 1998 after having worked as a maintenance tech for a large

Melbourne indoor plant hire company.  One of the first things I did was to seek out the industry Association as a form of information, support and the networking opportunities.

For me it was helpful to know that I wasn’t alone in this business and had the support of the wider industry.  It was also great to learn about the research into the benefits of indoor plants that IPA not only funds but actively promotes to government, media and related industries.

I felt that as a member of IPA I was helping to spread the word about the benefits of indoor plants which would not only help with marketing my own business but also lead to more opportunities for us all.

When approached nearly 3 years ago to join the Executive Committee I thought it would be a great opportunity to give back to the industry and also felt that I could learn a lot from my involvement.  It has been a wonderful opportunity for which I am grateful.  I would encourage you all to get involved with your industry association, get in touch and tell us your thoughts, or better yet, volunteer your services to help improve this valuable resource which benefits us all!
