Happy New Year!!
As you read this I will be enjoying the holiday break with a long anticipated trip to the USA! Right now, though, less than a week before I am due to leave, I am trying not to panic about how my business will operate without me for 3 whole weeks. It will be the longest time I have been away from the business since starting way back in 1998.
My mentors and business consultants have all been telling me for years that I need to have procedures in place so that my business can operate without me if need be – I’m sure that’s not news to most of you! It’s not that I don’t have procedures, I do, but they are all stored in my head rather than documented and accessible to everyone who may need them.
It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day running of your business and forget to spend some time working on it. So in the lead up to Christmas, I have been busy documenting procedures and organising work schedules, making sure that my staff have the knowledge and resources to keep the business operating smoothly during the holiday season.
I will be well and truly prepared with many policies and procedures to finally submit my documentation for IPA Industry accreditation when I return.
