I hope everyone’s year is off to a great start as we all get back to work after what was hopefully a relaxing break.
I was lucky enough to head to the USA over the holidays and couldn’t stop myself from checking out the plants where ever we went. I ended up with more photos of the plants I saw on our travels than the scenery!
The holiday displays in NYC were amazing with huge Christmas trees, many colourful seasonal pots in front of buildings and fairy lights everywhere. Conifers in pots featured heavily, probably due to their ability the cope with the freezing temperatures.
Over on the East Coast, they have been in drought for some time so it was no surprise to see succulents everywhere and some amazing outdoor dining spaces that were packed with greenery. I loved seeing all of the buildings covered in creepers creating some impressive green walls.
The indoor plant varieties were all the same species that we rely on here but an interesting trend I noticed was the widespread use of Spanish moss as toppings for pots. This resource must be a lot cheaper in the states!
It’s back to work now and the countdown is on for our 2017 International Conference, Connect, Discover, Thrive, inspiring a growing industry.
