- Established Green Inspiration, an indoor plant hire business, in 2007.
Plants and people have been a passion of mine from the early days of high school. I was a keen gardener with a veggie patch in the backyard in Sydney and most weekends would head to the country to various friends and family farms to help with plant and animal related activities. Being connected to people has been a common thread throughout my life with a preference for team sports and a keen interest in friendships and human behaviour.
When I started Green Inspiration in 2007, it brought together my two interests of plants and people and it was like something I was destined to do! This business makes me very happy and I feel a great sense of satisfaction providing a worthwhile service to the community. I truly believe that being connected to nature is essential for every person’s health and well-being. We are privileged to be involved in a business which can assist by bringing plants indoors and helping our customers stay linked to nature.
We started with one floor plant in one office in 2007 and now have thousands of plants all over the Canberra and Southern NSW region. Initially it was just me and 10 years later we have a small team of five including three horticulturalists. Our first employee has been with GI for nearly six years, so we must be doing a few things right!
The future for our industry is very bright with the growing interest in Biophilia, indoor environment improvement and Greewalls across the world. I believe that to continue the education of the community about the importance of indoor plants, we need to have a big voice. The more members we have at IPA the bigger our voice is in the community, and the better off we all are as an industry.
