I recently had the honour of being one of the judges for the 2017 International Design Contest sponsored by I-Plants/Urban Horticulture magazine. What a tough job with so many inspiring and unique designs being entered from around the globe! I really enjoyed the experience and thank Kathy Fediw, editor of I-Plants/Urban Horticulture for the opportunity.
Congratulations to all of the winners, I’d recommend taking some time to have a look at all of them in I-Plants/Urban Horticulture magazines May edition.
Congratulations to Sydney’s TPR Group for winning second place in the Green Wall $40,000+ category of the contest! Their 51 meter long by 6 metre high Green Wall at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney was commissioned for the Botanic Garden 200th Bi-centenary celebrations and comprises of 18,000 plants, the sheer scale of this project making it very impressive indeed. TPR Group’s design uses the GSky Versa WallTM greenwall system with 25 independent irrigation systems, over 300 metres of irrigation line and more than 2,000 irrigation drippers. The GSky Versa WallTM planting is designed to be changed to suit the current exhibition, enabling this beautiful greenwall to help tell a story. I look forward to seeing future designs!
If you haven’t subscribed to I-Plants/Urban Horticulture magazine yet, I’d recommend you do so. It’s exciting to see what others in the industry are up to and helpful to keep up to date with international trends. If you’d like to share some exciting industry news with IPA, we’d love to hear from you!
