President’s Message (February 2019)

Happy New Year! This time of year I find myself taking stock of the year that has just passed and planning for all of the exciting opportunities the New Year will bring.

Regrettably, this is my last President’s message. It has been a privilege to be on the board as your President for 2018 and to also be a member of the Interior Plantscape Association since 1982. There have been many changes and challenges during this time but the popularity of indoor plants seems to be at an all-time high with many discussions at present about the air purifying benefits. What fantastic news that this message is becoming common knowledge.

What a wonderful time to be involved in the Interior Plantscape industry! The opportunities seem limitless at present and when I chat with others in the industry the consensus is that it’s hard to keep up with demand. What a great ‘problem’ to have!

Who wants to be a winner! Thanks to Yates & Organic Crop Protectants (OCP) if you pay your membership within 7 days you will go into the draw to win a new release book titled ‘Yates Top 50 Indoor Plants and how not to kill them’ written by Angie Thomas. See www.yates.com.au for more information. Or a prize pack from Organic Crop Protectants (OCP) who have been leading the way in organic horticultural solutions since 1991. Valued at $145 each. Learn more about the range at www.ecoorganicgarden.com.au

Make sure you check out this month’s article about ‘Facebook: More useful than you think’ written by Gabrielle Stannus (Inwardout Studio, Tasmania) and IPA board member. It’s hard to believe worldwide, there are over 2.27 billion monthly active Facebook users (Source: Facebook 30/10/18) what this means for you: In case you had any lingering doubts, statistically, Facebook is too big to ignore!

As we approach the AGM, to be held on the 20th February, I have been thinking about the future of our association. Providing the highest value to our members is always our top priority! Keep your eye on our future e-blasts and newsletters as we are in the planning stage of adding value to your membership. Even though I am not nominating as your President I will still be nominating as a board member so if you have any feedback or suggestions for your board in 2019 please contact myself or email info@interiorplantscape.asn.au

Regards to all & Good Luck in the draw!

Arthur Stacey – President 2018
