Incoming President’s Vision for 2021

Thank you for the opportunity to be the President of Interior Plantscape Association (IPA) for 2021.

This year holds the promise of life getting back to a ‘Covid’ Normal, with people getting back to the office and interior plantscaping continuing its growth trend after the interruption of 2020.

I would like to begin by acknowledging the outgoing Management Committee and the job they did in a very challenging year, as well as the outgoing President Karen Smith who has given 2 terms as President to the Association.

Like most members I have been passively involved in the Association, paying my membership, reading the monthly emails, zooming in on one of the E-learning events, ( I now know are webinars), BUT not really getting involved. Obviously this changes from now.

As to a Vision for 2021 – the things I would like the Management Team to achieve in 2021 are likely the very same as previous Presidents of this and other Associations;

  • To assist members to have sustainable and profitable businesses across the full range of products and services we offer.
  • For the Association to be financially stable. We are a very small Association and need resources to meet the requirements of members.
  • To look at funding opportunities outside of membership subscriptions. Example accessing some of the $2.3 million collected by the ‘pot levy’, (Statutory Industry Levy) in 2020.

To continue the Associations role in education and advocacy to members, the broader industry, Government and the public.

To help achieve these goals I welcome the new incoming Management Committee members who have likewise decided to act in 2021;

Robert Shand – Advance Plants
Amy Page – Advance Plants
Graeme Reid – Tropical Plant Rentals
Michael Casey – Evergreen Infrastructure

Plus our continuing Management/Executive Team Members;

Gabrielle Stannus – Inwardout Studio
Elaine Tunn – Association CEO

In closing I encourage all members to act this year, giving feedback to the Association, looking at the Management Committee suggestions and helping out where and how you can.

Like the plants many of us deal with, the Association needs to be nurtured and to grow to be successful, ignored it will wither and die.

Let’s all grow together!

2021 President – Cameron Iddles
